Lakehouse actively supports the government’s efforts to raise skills levels in the UK by working with the Learning and Skills Council’s Train to Gain service www.traintogain.gov.uk.
This year over 40 Lakehouse employees are working towards NVQs in a range of subjects including Customer Services, Carpentry and Construction Management. The company has extended the training to its supply chain partners and is encouraging them to get involved.
Gary Bruce, Communities and Regeneration Director, explains: “This programme has been an excellent learning curve for us. We have some great new recruits and as a result of the experience have embarked on a training and development programme for all our staff, which includes the progression of some of the women in our workforce to Contracts Managers, bucking industry trends.”
