Lakehouse provides opportunity for Shell Step Scheme undergraduate

The Shell Step Scheme is the UK's leading undergraduate work placement scheme. During the summer of 2008 Lakehouse provided a two month paid work placement for Kate Pierpoint (picture here). Kate already has a degree and is continuing her studies at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, studying for a one year Masters in Development Studies.

Kate was placed with our Business Development Department and allocated a special project to undertake market research into local authorities' capital expenditure and political initiatives that might impact their plans as well as some competitor analysis.

Objectives were agreed at the outset and Kate was tasked with preparing a report which would provide detailed information about how local authorities were allocating funds in the sectors in which Lakehouse operates. Part of Kate's remit was to make proposals on how Lakehouse might use this information to ensure sales activity and generate tender enquiries.

Kate very quickly became part of the team, even volunteering to promote Lakehouse at a community fun day for Richmond Housing Partnership. Her contribution was so valuable that Lakehouse has since decided to recruit a full-time market researcher.
