The Construction Industry Council’s www.cic.org.uk mentoring programme aims to increase the diversity and number of young people coming into the professional side of the industry.
Lakehouse’s Construction Director, Dean Ball, and Micky Fearn, Construction Manager, have volunteered their time to mentor students at the Royal Docks Community School, a mixed comprehensive, based in Canning Town. Between them they attend regular mentoring sessions and facilitate workshops with other construction professionals.
Dean Ball says: “The best thing about taking part in the mentoring programme and supporting and encouraging young people, is the satisfaction I get from seeing a young person gradually realise their potential and start to become the person they want to be. It’s a very rewarding experience.”
