In partnership with Discover, a registered charity based in Stratford, Lakehouse organised a cultural awareness workshop for clients, suppliers and staff. The event was aimed at increasing awareness of the diverse range of cultures in London and on how Discover engages with communities.
The event was attended by forty people and raised over £1,000 for Discover, to help support its community work. The workshop included a tour of Discover and the 'festival of light' exhibition, a discussion on diversity and how Discover approaches community development, a panel debate on diversity with Marie Pye, Head of the Disability Rights Commission, and a Waltham Forest Councillor dealing with housing, plus a story telling session.
Claire Williams, Community Development Manager at Lakehouse, said "We work with communities in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. The workshop gave me valuable insight into the things that different cultures have in common rather than the differences."
