Lakehouse's 'Get on your bike initiative' is intended to help site staff travel around sites and from one site to another, largely on its social housing frameworks.
A bike journey helps reduce noise and pollution, reduces traffic congestion and the economic cost of traffic delays and helps protect green spaces, monuments and buildings from the adverse effects of pollution.
The initiative is also promoting the health, fitness and wellbeing of our workforce. Exercising releases endorphins into the blood which create a feeling of contentment and happiness, therefore helping to reduce stress levels.
Sidney Clark, Health & Safety Advisor, uses the bikes to get around various sites in Camden. He said "The bikes tick a number of boxes for us, environmentally and in terms of staff welfare, but more importantly they make us more accessible to the community. I often stop and have a chat with local residents - cycling around sites has been a great way for me to get to know the local people."
