Lakehouse joined Hyde Housing Association to provide pupils from St. Michael's Secondary School, Bermondsey, with a two day Regeneration Challenge, devised by the Southwark Educational Business Alliance.
Day one comprised a planning overview of the City of London at the Guildhall, a tour of Bermondsey Spa housing scheme and a look at the refurbishment of housing stock in Camden, using environmental technology.
On day two the fifteen pupils were split into teams of five and tasked with producing a scheme to redevelop the Elephant and Castle, taking account of economic, environmental and social issues.
Lakehouse professionals volunteered to act as facilitators to assist the students in presenting a layout of their developments to a panel of judges, which included Gary Bruce, Lakehouse's Communities and Regeneration Director.
All the students were awarded certificates of achievement and as an added incentive prizes were given for best plan and best presentation.
