Three Trees Children's Centre branches out to local families

On 21 May 2009 Brent's latest children's centre officially opened its doors, with more than 500 families already on the books. Two children cut the ribbon of the new £625K building in the grounds of Queen's Park Community School, the latest addition to Brent Council's multi-million pound children's centre programme.

Storytelling, music, mask making, a steel band and afternoon tea were laid on for the opening, which local families were invited to attend along with members of the Lakehouse team, who were delighted to celebrate the successful completion of the new facilties.

The centre incorporates numerous facilities including a Babies' Cafe, an outdoor play area and a kitchen situated in the foyer, which gives heart to the building and creates a homely atmosphere. The centre is already proving a popular hub for parents and children alike.

Centre Manager, Nicky Case, said "We're absolutely delighted that we are providing services for so many local families. We had 180 registered families when we moved in on 5 January and now, as we prepare to celebrate our official opening, we have over 500."

Lesley Bidgood, mum to 13-month-old Isabella, is already an enthusiastic centre user. She said "The staff are really friendly and there are beautiful toys for the children to play with. It's really like a home from home and a wonderful facility to have in the area."
