Tessa Sanderson MBE opens Plaistow Children's Centre

One of the hottest days of the year, 26th June 2009, saw the launch of Plaistow Children's Centre, housed in a purpose built extension to Plaistow Primary School, in Newham, east London. Members of Lakehouse's delivery team were proud to join the celebration, having built the extension and provided sponsorship for the event.

Activities were run outside, both in the children's centre's gardens and the school playground. The centre was jointly opened by Lyn Brown, Member of Parliament for West Ham, and Tessa Sanderson MBE, 1984 Olympic gold medalist, who heads Newham's 2012 Sports Academy. Tessa's presence heralded the theme for the day, a mini Olympics for the children, including gym tots for the children's centre children.

There was ample opportunity for visitors to look around the new facilities after a fantastic performance by the Plaistow Primary School choir. The official opening at 1.30pm was also attended by Councillor Quintin Peppiatt, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People.
