Lakehouse celebrates opening of New River Green Children's Centre

The Lakehouse delivery team joined staff, parents, children and childminders at New River Green Children's Centre, Ramsey Walk, N1 on 9 February 2009 to celebrate the opening of the new children's centre, the home of Islington's first approved childminding network.

Lakehouse developed the new building and undertook extensive refurbishments to transform the New River Green nursery into a children's centre, which offers care and education and a range of new family services. Islington Council was proud to showcase the new state of the art building, with its inviting, stimulating and safe environment. New River Green also has a great outdoor space and is even open to families at weekends.

Cllr. James Kempton, Leader of Islington Council, kicked off the event with a tree planting ceremony which was followed by a live performance of Indian dancing and African drumming. Lenny Lakehouse, company mascot, was there to help out, volunteering his services and trying his hand at African drumming. The children then enjoyed a range of creative activities which included face painting, circus skills, music and movement.

Gerald Mehrtens, Deputy Head of Early Years, said "I have no doubt the build would not have been the success it has been without the excellent services we received from Lakehouse, who did everything they could not only in producing what I think is an excellent building, but also working with us to ensure that the children's centre could continue to deliver the services while the building works were being undertaken."
