Community Involvement
Employment and job opportunities at richmond careers roadshow

On 8 October 2010 Lakehouse joined forces with over 1,200 students from schools across Richmond for the 'Twickenham Experience', at Twickenham Rugby Ground. The aim of the Richmond Council run event was to raise awareness of employment, apprenticeship and higher educational opportunities available to students once they leave college or school. Representatives from over 30 businesses and universities gathered to provide advice and information on work opportunities in the Richmond area and beyond.

Lakehouse's Richmond office team took the volunteering lead, and used an interactive computer game called 'Armadillo Run' to inspire the students to get involved. The game focused on structure and cost control, and is designed to provide a basic understanding of construction projects. A spot the danger exercise, using photographs of a real site, was set up to raise awareness of the importance of health and safety on site.

Councillor Christine Percival, Strategic Cabinet Member of Education, Youth and Children's Services on Richmond Council, said "It is important that young people are aware of the employment opportunities available to them. The event was a great chance for them to speak to employees who could provide avenues they might want to pursue once they leave school or college."
