This initiative enabled a partnership to be formed between Lakehouse and the Essex Wildlife Trust. Over a two year period, Lakehouse sponsored a different local school each month to visit one of the Essex Wildlife Trust’s visitor centres for an educational day, designed to fit in with each school’s curriculum.
The initiative provided numerous opportunities for local children to take part in activities such as pond dipping, insect hunting and a nature trail which allowed those brave enough to feed the reindeer.
Steve Rawlings, Chief Executive said: “I’m proud of the scheme and how successful it’s been. We work extensively in schools and we’re glad to offer something back. It’s rewarding to see the children enjoying all that the local habitat has to offer.”
