National Site Awards 2010 - Gold Award for Doddinghurst Primary School
On 27th April 2010 Lakehouse was awarded a Gold CCS Award for Doddinghurst Primary School, one of only five projects to be awarded the gold standard this year. The project required the traditional build of a new IT suite, classrooms and library.
The school itself was included in site activities from day one, to the great satisfaction of the head teacher. A morning assembly was led by the team to promote safety and to tell the pupils about the project, and this was followed by a whole range of further activities throughout the build. This included pupils' participation in cleaning a nearby woodland brook and the erection of posters in the school showing indigenous wildlife. A number of routes were in place for wider neighbour communication, including a weekly afternoon drop-in time with refreshments provided.
The team also developed the role of dedicated site labourer by providing further training in banksman, first aid and fork lift driving duties. In addition to providing valuable cover, this naturally increased the operatives' personal standing and job satisfaction levels.
Well equipped staff facilities and excellent overall presentation added to this site's achievements, demonstrating that smaller sites may equally reach the very highest standards of considerate site practice.
