BITC Big Tick Award 2012 - Skills in the Workplace

Lakehouse is one of a small number of companies honoured in the UK's leading awards for responsible business practice, run by Business in the Community (BITC). Lakehouse has received the coveted National Big Tick for its Lakehouse Learning World Programme in the Skills in the Workplace category in the National Awards for Excellence 2011. The Big Tick award is the first level of award available to entrants of the National Awards for Excellence, which recognise inspirational programmes that are making a positive impact on the community, the environment or wider society.

The programme was also shortlisted for consideration for the title of Example of Excellence - the overall winner - for the Skills in the Workplace category and we will present our entry to a panel of expert judges in May. The final results will be announced on 5 July 2011.

Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Jon Brookes comments; "We are delighted to receive this Big Tick and to have been shortlisted for the overall Example of Excellence. We have always taken a sustained approach to corporate responsibility and integrated it into our business strategy. For us, it has paid off both with customers, stakeholders and our employees. We know that we cannot build a successful sustainable business without constantly showing our commitment to being a better business."

Stephen Howard, Chief Executive of BITC said: "I congratulate Lakehouse on achieving their Big Tick. It is a challenging time for business, but this is a sign that companies are not losing their focus and are transforming their businesses to make a positive impact on people and society and are prepared to lead by example."

Lakehouse will be presented with its Big Tick award on 2 June 2011 and announced in a supplement in the Financial Times on 8 June 2011.
