Lakehouse works with Phil Spencer on Channel 4's Property Campaign

7 Dec 2011

Lakehouse has been working with Phil Spencer (Location Location Location) as part of Channel 4’s season of special programmes to investigate why the UK is in the middle of a housing crisis and to highlight possible solutions. It’s all part of ‘The Great British Property Campaign’, headed up by architect George Clark, and backed by the likes of Kevin McCloud, Campbell Robb (CEO of Shelter), and David Ireland (CEO of Empty Homes Agency).

The one hour programme, ‘Phil’s Empty Homes Giveaway’, was aired on Wednesday 7 December on Channel 4 at 9pm. In it Phil met some of the people worst affected by the UK housing crisis, and helped them find a roof over their head before Christmas. The trainees featured in this programme have been, or continue to be affected by homelessness, and all of them are learning construction skills and working towards a recognised qualification at the Building lives Training Academy. Lakehouse was instrumental in setting up the academy, and successful candidates are offered apprenticeships and paid work placements with Lakehouse or one of our supply chain partners.
