Lakehouse was invited by Richmond Housing Partnership to demonstrate how to access employment at the 1 Event - a free employment and volunteering day for RHP customers and the local community - which took place at York House, Twickenham, on 1 November.
Representatives from the Lakehouse West London regional office, with generous support from sub-contractor FD Construction, also gave a practical demonstration in painting and decorating, ensuring visitors got their hands sticky putting up wallpaper and painting.
Hayley Taylor, Channel Four’s ‘Fairy Jobmother’, brought a sparkle to the occasion, as well as handy advice for gaining employment, improving confidence and motivation; and Councillor Clare Head, the Mayor of London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, added her name to the list of VIP speakers.
Skills workshops included CV writing, interviewing, and personal budgeting; and demos/workshops were held by Virgin Active, The Army, Richmond Adult Community College, Notting Hill Housing Construction Training Initiative, and Mears.
RHP residents were in for an extra treat with the free work clothing boutique, supported by Suited and Booted and Scope, and an unlimited supply of Starbucks coffee.
