On Friday 8th January community spirit was the order of the day in Camden. Lakehouse and apprentices from the King's Cross Construction Centre took up shovels and brooms to help clear the snow and ice from some of the more vulnerable side roads and pavements in the borough.
Lakehouse staff joined other well meaning members of the community, giving up their time to clear areas near sheltered housing accommodation. The team cleared pavements and footpaths at an old people's home in Belmont Street before moving to a hospital in Pond Street and then clearing badly affected areas near Belsize Park town hall.
Councillor Chris Knight, Executive Member for Environment, Camden Council said "We are facing a prolonged and severe cold weather front not seen for over a generation and it is warming to see people chipping in to lend a hand in times of need."
Lakehouse has recently completed its first successful year as one of only two contractors on the 'Investing in Camden's Homes' framework. Our delivery teams have forged close relationships with the local community and were happy to join in to make it safer for local people to get out and about in the cold weather.
