Sean Birrane, Managing Director of Lakehouse, was thanked by Rt. Hon. Stephen Timms recently for the financial support and expertise that Lakehouse has given Discover, a registered charity based in Stratford, east London.

The event was organised to coincide with Discover's Big Write Festival for children; four days of brilliant workshops, performances, poetry, book launches and the chance to meet famous authors and illustrators, including award winning David Lucas.

Lakehouse donated £12,000 to the charity to support disadvantaged families who now benefit from free annual passes to the centre, and recently hosted a Diversity Workshop at the centre, raising an additional £1,000 for Discover.

The Rt. Hon. Stephen Timms is the Member of Parliament for East Ham and was appointed Financial Secretary to the Treasury in October 2008.
