Local MP celebrates start of new £715K community centre in Eltham

Residents of the Page Estate in Eltham joined Lakehouse, councillors and the local MP to celebrate the start of building work on a new community centre this month.

Lakehouse gets go ahead for new community centre in Newham

Lakehouse has commenced work on a £2M contract to build a new community centre in Newham for the London Development Agency, as part of the Olympic park relocation programme. The new building will provide 500 square metres of recreational space and will include a shared garden within the existing Chandos Road Community Centre. It will also feature a new play area, two separate gardens for pre school and school children, a training room, a computer room and a cafe.

Lakehouse supports new build project in Kenya

Lakehouse has recently provided funds to help give the Alendu Primary School, in the Kisumi region of Western Kenya, a fresh start. Previously the school was unusable due to the poor standard of building materials that were used originally, resulting in the collapse of many of the structural walls. The company's donation enabled Francesca Deibel, whose partner works for Lakehouse, to go out to Kenya and take part in a three day building project where she and other student volunteers assisted in the construction of the new school building. Donations helped to pay for the building labour required, and also the materials needed. Francesca was involved in the curing of the walls, especially important in a country like Kenya due to the very hot and dry weather that predominates throughout the year.

Lakehouse cleans up at Havering Business Awards 2009

Lakehouse cleaned up at the recent annual Havering Business Awards 2009. A finalist in two categories - Business and Education Partnership, and Staff Training and Development, the company was awarded the Business and Education Partnership Award. Better still, at the end of the evening, the top prize was announced and Lakehouse was awarded the coveted Havering Business of the Year Award, a surprise award by the judges.

Diversity in Business Award for Lakehouse

Lakehouse was recently announced winner of the prestigious Diversity in Business Award at the 2nd annual North and West London Business Awards, held at the world class Bobby Moore Suite at Wembley Stadium. The glittering event was hosted by BBC Journalist, Louisa Preston.
