John Perry Children's Centre in Dagenham, constructed by Lakehouse, has been highlighted as one of ten public buildings to be commended by SCALA, a collaborative organisation of public sector architects and related professionals.

It was judged as having an exemplar piece of public architecture and was in the top ten short listed for the Civic Building of the Year Award.

The centre was also short listed for the Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award for the way Barking and Dagenham Council consulted partners and users to ensure their requirements were met.
