Education Award win at Dragon Awards 2008

The Lord Mayor's Dragon Award 2008 winners were announced at the annual celebratory dinner at Mansion House on 21 October and Lakehouse was awarded the Education Award.

Founded in 1987, the Lord Mayor's Dragon Awards scheme celebrates corporate community involvement across Greater London. A press release for the launch of the Awards noted that "The City has recently been charged with a lack of care, and for not becoming involved in the problems of inner cities existing on its door step."

Applicants to the Dragon Awards nominate their community projects in a number of categories. Lakehouse put forward its '141 Programme' which aims to work with at least 12 educational establishments each year and tackles three issues: Safety, Environment and Careers. Since starting in 2005, the project has expanded, recruiting a dedicated manager and visiting 68 schools in partnership with clients, staff, commnity organisations and involving supply chain the competitors. 20 work experience placements have been offered and 14 people recruited directly from the programme.

Winners of the Dragon Awards receive a highly coveted Dragon statuette and are recognised by their peers and competitors as offering exemplary programmes of Corporate Community Involvement.
