John Perry Children’s Centre commended by SCALA
The John Perry Children's Centre in Dagenham has been highlighted as one of ten public buildings to be commended by SCALA, a collaborative organisation of public sector architects and related professionals.
It was judged as having an exemplar piece of public architecture and was listed in the top ten for the Civic Building of the Year Award.
The centre was also short listed for the Prime Minister's Better Public Building Award for the way Barking and Dagenham Council consulted partners and users to ensure their requirements were met.
Cllr Jeanne Alexander, executive member for children's services said: "The centre is a wonderful building that was developed by considering the community’s needs. To be commended is a great reward for the Council and all those involved.”
